TAURUS PT809

The Taurus PT8 Series.  There are three of them available.  The PT809 9mm, PT840 .40S&W & PT845 45acp.  We had a 9mm to test.  This gun came in.  We examined it, and looked at the features.  They have a composite/polymer receiver, with a metal slide in stainless or blued.  It has an external hammer, and a two position safety.  Up position for safety with the hammer back, and down position to activate the de-cocker.  The gun also holds 17 9mm, 15 40 S&W & 12 45acp.  The kit comes with two magazines, cleaning brushes, additional back straps, magazine juicer, and the safety keys.

Out of the box the gun feels nice ergonomically, and points well.  It comes with nice amenities listed above.  So now let's get down to the nuts and bolts.  We shot a box of fifty through it, and found the double action trigger difficult manipulate at first, especially if you are a single action shooter.  Once the trigger was figured out towards the end of the box of bullets.  It became a fun gun to shoot.  I also want to note if you are not an experienced shooter or you are use to double actions.  The trigger pull would be very easy to get accustomed to.

There were no functional issues, but it was time to put it to the test in a rapid fire (SEE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE http://youtu.be/3ExhwHc_3YI ).  The gun shot great for only having fifty rounds before this shot through it.  There was no cycling issues, the clips eject, and load easy, and it would be great for home defense, or a entry level gun in competition shooting or recreation shooting.  Now the accuracy portion of this test.  We shot 50 rounds to familiarize ourselves and break it in, 30 rounds in a rapid fire, and the remaining 20 are bench rested for accuracy.  See the image below, as it speaks for itself.

That's nothing to complain about there.  I've seen much more expensive guns shoot much worse.

Pros:
Good Amenities
Good Safety Features
Comfortable
Reliable
Accurate
Backed By Taurus
Affordable

Cons:
Trigger Takes Getting Used To
The Magazines Are Tough To Load Without The Juicer

In all this is a good gun for the buck!!!
